To score yourself, first add up the numbers on the passion subscale (statements 3, 5, 9,
11, 14, 16, 17, 22, 23, 29, 31, 34, 37, 41, 45). Then add up the numbers on the intimacy
subscale (1, 2, 6, 10, 15, 19, 21, 24, 25, 26, 30, 36, 38, 40, 42). Add up the numbers
on the commitment subscale (4, 7, 8, 12, 13, 18, 20, 27, 28, 32, 33, 35, 39, 43, 44).
Divide each of the three totals by 15 to obtain an average rating for each of the three
components:

Passion:_________ Intimacy:_________ Commitment:__________

An average rating of 5 on a subscale indicates a moderate level of the component
represented by the subscale; for example, an average rating of 5 on the intimacy
subscale indicates a moderate amount of intimacy in the relationship you chose to
measure. A higher average rating would indicate more intimacy, and a lower average
rating would indicate less intimacy. Examining your ratings for each of the three
subscales will give you an idea of how you perceive your love relationship in terms of
these important dimensions.
